GABRIEL B. BAKILANA
Gabriel is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA – Finance, 2009), and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Accounting) with Honours (B.Com – Hons, 2002) from the University of Dar es Salaam. Gabriel has vast experience in the fields of Taxation, Audit, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Entrepreneurship and Public Finance. He has worked for various public, private and not-for-profit entities in various senior roles, including the University of Dar es Salaam, Youth of the United Nations (YUNA), United Nations Association (UNA-Tanzania), the Southern Sun Hotels Group, the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Coca Cola Kwanza Ltd, Shelys Pharmaceuticals (and its subsidiary, Beta Healthcare of Kenya), the NHC and PPF Special Investment Vehicle, and the E&D Readership and Development Agency – SOMA, Springs of Progress Tanzania, and Auditax International.
Gabriel is a Trained Policy Analyst and an excellent Trainer, Writer, and Researcher. He is a member of the Southern Africa Young Researchers Network – Coordinated by the University of KwaZulu Natal (HEARD). He has authored several publications, including “Beyond Policies and Laws Preventing Tax Evasion in Tanzania: the Case Study of Sugar Smuggling in Mbeya Region” in 2009; “The Role of Primary Education in Building General Entrepreneurial Tendencies: the Tanzanian Experience” in 2015; and “Enhancing Voluntary Tax Compliance in Tanzania” in 2017. He is the winner of various prestigious awards including the Mwalimu Nyerere Foundation Writers Award, 1997 and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) / Youth of the United Nations Interim Committee (YUNICO) 1st Prize for the publication “Youth and Poverty Eradication: Challenges for Tanzanian Youth”.
Gabriel is currently the General Manager at KMC Associates, which is a business consulting and accounting firm founded in 2007. KMC Associates is one of the fastest growing consulting firms serving entities from various sectors within the East Africa Region.
